Friends of the Libraries of Foster Meeting
The newly formed Friends group will be holding a meeting to plan their first fundraiser, a booksale and rare and unique vegetable plant sale. Karen Mueller of Nordland Heritage Farm on South Killingly Rd. has offered to do a program on her #1 picks for vegetable seeds: why they are a good choice for this area, propagation, harvesting and their uses in cooking. Karen is a Master Gardener and grows unique varieties of vegetables on her farm. It should be an interesting and informative meeting. New friends are always welcome.

American Girl Party
This month we will celebrate the life of Addy Walker. Learn how Addy and her family lived after the Civil War in 1864 Philadelphia. Their life was different there than it had been on the Southern Plantation where she was born into a slave family. Learn about her life and times, sample foods of the region, and play the games she and her friends played. Check out one of the American Girl books describing Addy's life and her many adventures and share your thoughts on this brave girl.
